Causes of Global Warming
Due to certain human behaviors which are causing global warming, we might soon find ourselves dealing with much larger problems than economic recession. The danger lies within climate changes which may ultimately cause death and destruction, if it gets out of hand, an increase in storm systems and natural disasters, blistering heat waves, rising sea levels, outbreak of disease caused by climactic changes and many more.
Causes of global warming have been linked to things such as carbon dioxide emission, an increase in water vapor put into the atmosphere, and deforestation. Two major sources of electricity are provided through burning natural resources such as fossil fuels and coal. When burning these two resources, carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is also distributed from cars, airplanes and residential buildings. One way to reduce this problem is to research alternative power sources such as solar or wind powered electricity. Carpooling to work and asking car dealers about more fuel efficient vehicles is another way to help reverse the causes of global warming
Due to increased warming in our atmosphere and carbon dioxide emission, water vapor is being held within the air at a much more substantial rate. With water vapor in the air, heat tends to increase even more causing the temperature to rise further still. This water vapor causes increased cloud coverage which reflects a certain amount of heat back into space.
In the arctic, people build there homes on a solid sheet of ice known as permafrost. Due to the causes of global warming and increased temperatures, this ground may soon begin to melt which will result in a very destructive outcome to homes, buildings, power lines and so forth. Another worry is the rising sea level due to ice melting off into the ocean, which will also cause desalinization. Desalinization could lead to increased storms and a higher occurrence of natural disasters.
In order to stop the causes of global warming we must research and educate ourselves. We need to take part in voting for candidates who support efforts to make a difference in our economy in order to better stabilize our climactic effect on the atmosphere; Research the possibility of using renewable energy instead of using those that are irreplaceable such as fossil fuels and coal; Invest in energy efficient appliance; Educate yourself on gardening and plant a few trees. If everyone did these things, the negative impact that we have on global warming would dramatically decrease.
Smaller much easier habitual changes could be used done in a person’s life in order to help preventing the causes of global warming. Switching your light bulbs for fluorescent ones will drastically reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the air. Ride a bike to go somewhere locally instead of using your car. Not only is this better for the environment, but your health as well. Instead of using paper grocery sacks at the grocery store, try investing in your own cloth sacks which will reduce the number of trees that need to be cut down and help decrease deforestation.
There are a number of ways we can help our environment and ourselves. It’s just a matter of making sure we are aware of the cause and affect of each of our actions. We must ask ourselves, before we do anything, if it is beneficial to ourselves, to our future and to our atmosphere. If the answer is no, ask yourself what you can do differently. A number of global activists make it their solemn promise to do what they can to help the environment on a daily basis but they can’t do it alone. It is up to us to make the difference and stop the causes of global warming before it is too late.
